Weekly Photo Challenge: Juxtaposition

I grew up going to Culebra, a small island to the east of Puerto Rico, every possible chance we could get. The US Navy used  the island as training grounds until the 1970s (for more details, click here or read Target Culebra). This tank, along with warning signs to watch for unexploded ordinances, is among the few relics left over from a time when the Culebrensens lived through live-fire and missile exercises. This tank has been photographed by many for good reason – it is a stark reminder placed in the middle of paradise.
